Proud to be putting something back!!

As well as being part of Countrywide plc - the UK's largest estate agency group, Miller Countrywide are also very much a local estate agent - well established throughout Cornwall and Devon and totally mindful of the important part that we have to play in terms of putting something back into our local community.

To this end, we have for several years run our " Charity Challenge". Basically the Charity Challenge gives all of our offices and therefore every member of staff the opportunity to organise and/or partake in various fundraising events, the profits from which all go to support local charities.

Over the years we have been involved in a huge number and extreme variety of events from the usual sponsored walks and cycle rides,through to fancy dress pub crawls (very enjoyable!!), gig rowing, parachute jumping, charity dinners, football tournaments, golf days, summer balls, fashion shows, charity concerts - the list just goes on and on!!

Whilst the main purpose has of course been to raise as much money as possible, we have also enjoyed taking part in the many events and have also given much pleasure to others in respect of the various charity concerts and dinners that we have organised.

We take great pride in the fact that since its inception, our " Charity Challenge" has now helped to raise over £150,000 for local charities.

We have endeavoured to support a wide range of local & national charities, ensuring that when it is a national charity our fundraising efforts go to the local branch. We are proud to have become one of the principal sponsors for the Sharon Wood / Cancer Research Youth Football Tournament and also a principal sponsor for the St Lukes Hospice Fashion Show.

There have been two charities in particular that we have focused our fund raising efforts on - those being the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust and the Devon Air Ambulance Trust. With the extremely rural nature of both Devon & Cornwall we thought it fitting to be supporting them and both of these charities have featured as our "Charities of the Year ".

We do not intend to rest on our laurels and fund raising events are already in place for 2010 with plans for others beyond that.
